SU softball lands eight on All-SCAC teams

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In exclusive voting by head coaches, the conference office announced the 2016 All-SCAC team. First Team selections Taylor Curtis and Berkeley Bacon highlighted Southwestern's representation in the report.

Sophomore Taylor Curtis ranks sixth in the conference in hits with 49 while ranking eighth in doubles (12) and first in triples (5). She posted a .421 batting average in conference play with is fourth in the league with a .442 on base percentage which is fifth.

Defensively, the outfielder has 10 assists on the year with a .980 fielding percentage and two double plays. This is Curtis' first All-SCAC selection.

Junior second baseman Berkeley Bacon also earned her first All-SCAC pick. Bacon ranks 11th in RBIs with 26 on the year and is in the top ten in on base percentage (.429), walks (14), and doubles (11). Bacon also ranks in the top 15 in the conference in putouts and assists.

Senior Stacy Rosengren earned her third Second Team All-SCAC selection, this season at third base. Rosengren is eighth in the conference in RBIs with 30 on the year while posting a .278 batting average and .383 slugging percentage. Her nine doubles was 13th in the SCAC while defensively Rosengren has 73 assists on the year ranking her seventh.

Junior Marissa Irvin was also a Second Team All-SCAC selection in the outfield after earning First Team honors last season as a designated player. Irvin is fifth in the conference in hits for the year and ranks second in hits in conference play. She has a .407 conference batting average which is seventh best in the SCAC and is eighth in runs and 11th in stolen bases.

Paige McShan (DP), Celeste Silvas (SS), Chandler Smith (P) and Amelia Fuchs (UTL) were Honorable Mention All-SCAC selections.

Southwestern sits at 18-23 on the year after dropping their SCAC Championship first round contest 6-1 to Centenary College. The Pirates will face the loser of the Trinity/Dallas game on Saturday at noon.
