Five earn All-SCAC honors

Southwestern was once again well-represented in the All-SCAC voting, placing five on the report for 2015.

First-year Sydney Oorlog snagged a First Team selection in her first season with the Pirates as an outfielder. She ranks seventh in hits with 38 on the year and is second in the SCAC in triples with three. Oorlog has a .380 batting average and .418 on base percentage on the year.

Sophomore utility player Marissa Irvin has been hot at the plate in SCAC conference action and earned a First Team All-SCAC selection for her sophomore season. She is second in the conference with a .427 batting average and third in on base percentage at .472. Irvin has logged 35 hits in 82 at bats and drove in 13 runs on the year.

Michele Ramos and Stacy Rosengren earned Second Team All-SCAC selections this season. Ramos, a junior shortstop from Houston, Texas, leads the conference in hits with 47 and has a .379 batting average, ninth in the SCAC.  Rosengren, a junior outfielder form Round Rock, Texas, has been outstanding at the plate all season. She is in the top ten in nearly every offensive category and leads the SCAC in total bases with 64. Rosengren has a .367 batting average and posted 40 hits with 11 doubles, two triples and three homeruns.

Senior Ashleigh Scott rounds out Southwestern's representation on the report with an Honorable Mention selection. Scott's strong suit has always been her defense at third and this year was no exception. She is third in the SCAC in assists with 75 on the year and has a .924 fielding percentage. At the plate, Scott is hitting .269 on the year with 29 hits and five doubles.

Southwestern opened the post season with an 8-0 run rule win over Austin College in the first game of the SCAC Conference Championship. SU advanced to face #1 TLU and fell 5-0 to the Bulldogs to drop into the consolation bracket. They face the University of Dallas at 10am on Saturday.
