Galloway, Irvin lead Pirates in All-SCAC honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Seniors Tessa Galloway and Kayla Irvin earned First Team All-SCAC selections for their play this season as announced by the conference office at the SCAC Conference Tournament on Friday.

Galloway, an outfielder from Spring, Texas is fourth in the SCAC in hits this season with 45 and leads the SCAC in triples and is second in doubles. She posted a .378 batting average this season and drove in 23 runs, both seventh best in the conference.

Irvin, a designated player from Houston, Texas, has been incredibly efficient at the plate with a .597 slugging percentage and posted a .375 batting average this year. She is seventh in the SCAC in home runs and RBIs.

Joining Galloway and Irvin in the report were All-SCAC Second Team picks Caroline Young, Ashleigh Scott, Michelle Ramos and Karen Ramirez.

Young, a sophomore first baseman from Fort Worth, Texas, posted a .333 batting average with 33 hits in 99 at bats this season. He posted three doubles, one triple, and one homerun while driving in 11 runs.

Scott, a junior third baseman from Pflugerville, Texas, has been tough at the hot corner for Southwestern. She has 46 put outs and 67 assists with just six errors on the season. At the plate, Scott has 34 hits in 114 plate appearances and is seventh in the SCAC in doubles.

Ramos, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, has a .333 batting average with 30 hits and eight doubles, 11th most in the conference.

Ramirez, a senior shortstop from Waco, Texas, has been tough in her final season. She is third in the conference in hits with 35 and seventh in doubles and fourth in homeruns. Her .352 batting average puts her in 12th in the conference, but her slugging percentage of .541 ranks sixth.

First-year Nicole Gibbs also earned an Honorable Mention selection.

Southwestern entered the SCAC Conference Tournament as the #3 seed and won their opening game against the University of Dallas before falling to Trinity. The move into the loser's bracket and face Schreiner University at noon on Saturday in an elimination game.
