Davis, Rosendahl named Independent Schools Players of the Week

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern University's Kate Davis and Christina Rosendahl swept the Independent Schools Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Awards for the week ending February 26, 2017.

The seniors' efforts helped Southwestern to a 2-1 start to the season. This is the first time that both seniors have been honored with the award.

Offensive Player of the Week

Kate Davis, Southwestern University, Sr., Midfielder

Davis, a senior from Allen, TX, had an all-around performance scoring five goals, handing out three assists, picking up nine ground balls, winning 12 draw controls, and causing five turnovers. Davis' strongest effort came in the Pirates season opening 11-10 win against visiting Whitman College where she recorded 1 goal, three ground balls, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week

Christina Rosendahl, Southwestern University, Sr., Defender

Rosendahl, a senior from Westlake, TX, began her senior campaign recording strong possession numbers with seven ground balls, six draw controls, three caused turnovers. In the Pirates first road game against the University of Dallas, Rosendahl picked up four ground balls, two draw controls, three caused turnovers and picked up an offensive goal on transition.

Nine institutions comprise the Independent Women Lacrosse Schools: Colorado College, Dean College, D'Youville College, Franciscan University, Northland College, University of Northwestern-St. Paul, Southwestern University, State University of New York – Canton, and the University of Dallas.
