2014

Quintero closed his career with an outstanding performance at the SCAC Championships to earn Co-Athlete of the Meet honors. He won the hammer throw with a season-best distance of 34.77 meters and finished third in the shot put (11.36 meters) and javelin (38.12 meters). Quintero’s season-best in the javelin came at the Tiger Relays where he posted 38.61 meters. Quintero was the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week during the fourth week of the season. He is the current SU record holder in the discus and hammer. 

2013

Quintero ran a season best in the 100 at Incarnate Word, finishing in 12.36. At Texas State he posted two more season bests, throwing 41.04 meters in the javelin and 11.24 in the shot put. His best discus throw of 36.10 meters came at Hardin-Simmons. Quintero earned All-SCAC honors in the hammer throw, shot put and discus at the SCAC Championships. 

2012 (First-year)

Quintero participated in many field events for the Pirates. He finished 10th at the Tarleton State Invitational with a 10.61m throw in shot put. At the SCAC Championships, Quintero placed 16th in the Long Jump with a personal best 5.36m jump. He placed 13th in the Javelin with a throw of 41.04m, another personal best. Quintero also set an SU record in the Discus with a throw of 31.76m for 12th place at the SCAC Championships.

High School

Quintero was a three sport athlete, earning letters in football, track and tennis.

Joey is majoring in business with a minor in economics at Southwestern.
