2014
Thorne had an exceptional first season with the Pirates and capped off the year with four All-SCAC honors at the SCAC Championships. He took second place in the javelin (10.05 meters), discus (33.91 meters) and hammer (32.32 meters) and was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished in second place with a season-best time of 3:27.79. Thorne was also the third best thrower in the shot put with a toss of 10.05 meters at Tarleton State. He was the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week during the seventh week of the season.
High School
Thorne was a team captain at Mabank High where he earned academic all-state honors as a senior. He was also a two-time academic all-district selection during his time with the Panthers as well.
Personal
Rance is the son of Trevor and Liz Thorne. He plans to major in pre-medicine at Southwestern.
