Women's Track and Field Puts Five on CSC Academic All-District List

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS The Southwestern University Women's Track and Field Team placed five of its athletes on the CSC Academic All-District list this week, receiving all five available nominations. The athletes named to the academic all-district list were senior Taylor Hubbard, juniors Arden Neff and Jessie Chiella, and sophomores Lily McWhorter and Sydney Braun. Each qualified for the award by placing in the top 50 of the Division III West Region in their respective events. Below are the following rankings for each individual.

Taylor Hubbard - Javelin (16th) - 35.65 M - SCAC Track and Field Championships

Arden Neff - 400 M (13th) - 58.33 - SCAC Track and Field Championships

  • 400 Hurdles (3rd) - 1:03.19 - SCAC Track and Field Championships

Jessie Chiella - Triple Jump (23rd) - 10.66 M - Trinity Last Chance

  • 100 Hurdles (38th) - 16.57 - TLU D3 Challenge

Lily McWhorter - 100 Hurdles (34th) - 16.39 - Trinity Invitational

  • 400 Hurdles (19th) - 1:07.85 - Carl Kight Invitational

Sydney Braun - Hammer (31st) - 38.53 M - SCAC Track and Field Championships

  • Javelin (37th) - 31.86 - SCAC Track and Field Championships

"The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's track& field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA."

Academic standing:

  • Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
  • Institutions may only nominate five athletes for CSC Academic All-District Awards in Women's Track and Field and Cross Country.

Academic eligibility:

  • An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.

Athletic eligibility

  • M/W Track & Field/Cross Country: Eligible nominees will be based off of TFRRS performance list rankings at the time of nomination.  
    • NCAA Division III institutions: Top 50 in the region in a single event (XC, indoor or outdoor)
    • For Cross Country eligibility: Student-athletes must have had a Top 50 individual performance at the 2023 NCAA or NAIA regional competition to be eligible.
