Women's Track Completes First Meet of the Season 

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Southwestern University Pirates women's track and field team completed their first meet of the season at the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.

The first few field events started on Friday evening and one Pirate made a notable showing in the first meet since last Spring. In the women's pole vault, Taylor Hubbard placed 4th overall, landing at 2.89 meters. Hubbard also placed 12th in the women's javelin with a throw reaching 25.12 meters. Also, Hannah Jones placed 8th in the high jump for the women's field events.

In the running events, Emma Pertuit, who also runs on the Southwestern women's cross-country team, placed in the top five in 800-meter run, coming in 4th place with a time of 2:30.60. Following Pertuit, Giselle Kennison placed 11th and Lauren Calzado 14th.

Laura Carrasco-Torres did well in the 5000 Meter Run, placing in the top ten, coming in 9th place with a time of 20:17.53. Also, in the women's 15000-meter run, Morgan Kos placed 23rd and Corinne Johnson placed 24th.

The only Pirate to run hurdles, Keamber McCracken placed in the top ten in the 400-meter hurdles, coming in 8th place with a time of 1:12.81.

In the 100-meter dash, Dejahnae Thompson placed 12th with a time of 13.64 and Lauren Mackrell placed 16th with a time of 13.78. Thompson and Mackrell also ran in the 200-meter and placed 19th and 22nd.

In the women's relay events, Southwestern placed 4th overall in the 4x400 meter relay, with Erica Robuck, Thompson, Pertuit and McCracken coming in with a time of 4:19.53.
