Robuck and Neff Set Program Records at DIII Challenge

SEGUIN, Texas — Erica Robuck and Arden Neff set records in the 100 and 200-meter dash, and Tiamara Hill-Johnson scored another victory in the discus throw to highlight the Southwestern women's track & field team's performance at the DIII Challenge. 

Hill-Johnson defended her DIII Challenge discus title, returning to the spot where she set the Southwestern record at 42.06m and taking the event with a distance of 39.76m. 

Neff produced another solid performance with two top-five finishes. The freshman finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.47, breaking Jaye Ashley's program-record time of 26.56 set in 2017. Robuck was close behind with a fifth-place finish at 26.52, and Lilly Van Meter ran a 28.86 to finish 20th. Neff also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.42, followed by Kraushaar in fifth at 16.70. Keamber McCracken placed eighth at 17.06, and Jessie Chiella at 10th with a time of 17.56.

Robuck narrowly edged out the program record in the 100-meter dash, finishing sixth with a time of 12.73 to break Britney Carteret's mark of 12.74 set in 2019. Mackrell followed close behind with a personal best at 12.89, finishing seventh. Bakke finished almost one second off that pace for 13.70, good for 22nd. 

McCracken finished second in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing behind LeTourneau's Ellie Marsh's time of 1:06.76 with a time of 1:09.56. Lilly Van Meter clocked a 1:04.67 time in the 400-meter dash, good for sixth. 

Taylor Hubbard opened the field events with an eighth-place finish in the pole vault, recording a height of 2.70m. Kraushaar recorded a distance of 30.90 in the javelin, placing third. Hubbard finished eighth with a distance of 28.58m. Hannah Jones recorded a distance of 19.22m for 17th. Kraushaar and Riley Barlage competed in the shot put, with Kraushaar placing 19th at 8.50m and Barlage at 22nd at 8.19m. 

Kraushaar placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 4.99m. Van Meter recorded a mark of 4.27m to finish 19th. Barlage and Hill-Johnson finished 16th and 17th in the hammer throw with marks of 26.68m and 25.84m.

In the 4x100 meter relay, Chiella, McCraken, Bakke, and Van Meter finished fourth with a time of 52.66. 

Southwestern will return to action next weekend at the Angelo State David Noble Relays from April 1-2, followed by a trip to the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, from April 8-9.
