ABILENE, Texas — Southwestern track & field junior transfer Charlotte Kraushaar opened the Pirates' participation in the Abilene Christian University Wes Kittley Invitational, competing on the first day of the two-day women's heptathlon.
Kraushaar delivered two top-five finishes, highlighted by placing third in the heptathlon 100 hurdles with a time of 16.40, which was the top-ranked time among Division III competitors. After breaking the school record in the high jump during her previous meet with a height of 1.47m, Kraushaar produced another stellar performance, placing fourth with a height of 1.45m.
She also delivered a pair of sixth-place finishes, throwing a distance of 8.53m in the shot put and clocking in with a time of 28.60 in the 200 dash.
"This was the first heptathlon we've ever competed in, to my knowledge," Southwestern head track & field coach Kenneth Eboh says. "She gave a great performance today against a mixed field of NCAA Divisions, and I'm excited to see her finish her events tomorrow."
Kraushaar will finish the heptathlon tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m., competing in the long jump, javelin throw, and 800 dash.
