GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Track and Field team traveled to San Antonio, TX for the Trinity Invitational, a two-day meet at Trinity University. The meet included a mix of teams coming from all different divisions ranging from NCAA II, NJCAA, to SCAC schools Texas Lutheran, Trinity, St. Thomas, and Schreiner.

"Very successful day in San Antonio with numerous personal best. The invite has always been a great showing of competition. Happy with our team's performances over the two-day stretch and excited to see how the season progresses," said Coach Eboh.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Leandra Motelet broke the school record in the pole vault by clearing 10'6" (3.20m).

  • Brea Steele earned herself a big PR in the 800 and a sub-5-minute debut in the 1500.

  • Lily McWhorter lowered her PR in the 100m Hurldes by 2 seconds.

PERSONAL BESTS

 FULL MEET RESULTS

Coach Joe Sponsel recapped the two-day meet, " In our first couple meets, I defined success for the distance group as getting calibrated back to track racing and applying our training to races. This meet was much more about seeing the results from that training and I am very pleased with those results. We continue to race smart, largely avoiding the common pitfall of going out way too fast. We left ourselves some room in the second half of the races to actually race and beat people, which in part is what led us to the handful of PRs the team ran this week. From here, the plan is to keep the consistency in training and continue to find that next 1% we can give in races. They've earned the down week over Spring Break we've got coming up, but we have a lot of season left to improve."
