GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Track and Field team kicked off their 2024 season indoors at the FasTrak Athletix Indoor Collegiate Challenge hosted by the University of Houston in the Yeoman Field House on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

"I am very happy with how we started the track season at this meet. I defined success for this meet as getting a reminder of what racing shorter distances is like, getting a benchmark for fitness, and to come away with a clear idea of what we need to focus on in training and in meet preparation. Those goals are especially beneficial because most of the team has none to very little experience racing indoors, so the whole new environment can take time to get adjusted to. Everyone raced really smart and were rewarded with lots of PRs and a few school records. We've got a good idea of what the next block of training needs to look like so improve upon this early season success," recapped coach Joe Sponsel.

Head Coach Kenneth Eboh had this to say about the indoor event, "Indoor track and field is such a unique experience, so it's great to see our kids compete in such a different environment than they're accustomed to. The meet gave us such a good baseline for our teams condition and potential and I know the coaching staff is excited to get back on the track and get ready for the outdoor season. We're in a great position and look forward to seeing the team take their efforts from this weekend throughout the year."
