AZIZI EARNS ALL-SCAC SECOND TEAM HONOR

March 4, 2009

Senior forward Natasha Azizi was recognized by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and was named to the 2008-2009 All-SCAC Second Team at the conference tournament in Conway, AR over the weekend.

Azizi led the Pirates in nearly every category for the 2008-2009 season. She was first on the team in points, averaging 17.2 ppg and was the only Pirate in double digits for the season average. She also led in field goal percentage (50.2%), field goals made (6.0 pg) and free throws made per game (5). Azizi scored in double-digits in all but one game this season with a season high 29 points in Southwestern's opener against Pomona-Pitzer.

Rebounding was also a strong point in Azizi's play. She averaged 6.8 rebounds per game to lead the Pirates and recorded five double-doubles this season. Azizi was also second on the team in blocked shots (29) and third in steals (37).

Not only did Azizi lead in various categories during games, but she was a consistent and well-respected leader for the young Pirate women's team.

Azizi will continue in the history books for Southwestern as she finished with 1312 career points.
