Women's Basketball Shoots Lights Out Against McMurry

ABILENE, Texas — Southwestern women's basketball bombarded the McMurry War Hawks with a barrage of 3-pointers, hitting more than half their long-range attempts (10-for-18, 55.6 percent) for the 72-59 win.

All five starters shot better than 50 percent from the field, led by Lauren Fulenwider's 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting, hitting 5-of-7 3-pointers. Princess Roberts provided the perfect inside counterbalance to Fulenwider's outside marksmanship. The sophomore frontcourt player posted a nearly flawless double-double, scoring 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line with no turnovers and 13 rebounds.

The starters moved the ball well, getting a combined 13 assists from Fulenwider, Ellie Ward, and Jada Hollie, creating efficient shots for everyone (Southwestern shot 59.1 percent from the field). Mia Paz caught fire off the bench, scoring 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including 4-for-5 from the 3-point line.

Destiny Mathews led McMurry with 31 points on 10-for-22 shooting, hitting 9-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Southwestern improves to 2-2 with the win. The Pirates will play UNT-Dallas from the NAIA on Saturday, Nov. 13.
