Depth, Turnovers Doom Women's Basketball Against Trinity

SAN ANTONIO — Turnovers doomed the Southwestern Pirates women's basketball team in a 93-63 loss to the Trinity Tigers. 

Southwestern committed 30 turnovers, 16 of which came off steals, to surrender a 40-6 Trinity advantage in points off turnovers, contributing to a 42-18 edge in points in the paint. 

Reserve Maggie Shipley led all scorers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Ashlyn Milton poured in 17 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Both bench scorers anchor a second unit that outscored their Southwestern counterparts 58-13. 

Lauren Fulenwider led three Southwestern starters in double figures, scoring 14 points on 4-for-15 shooting from deep with two assists. Taylor Carney and Ellie Ward scored 11 each. Carney added seven rebounds, two steals, and a block. 

Southwestern drops to 9-13 with a 5-9 conference record. The Pirates will close their regular season with a pair of home games next weekend, hosting Centenary on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Austin College on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
