Southwestern University's womens basketball team dropped their fifth conference game of the season, losing at home to Trinity 57-48.

The Pirates held the normally high powered Tiger offense to just 25% from the field and 16% from behind the arc. Rebounds and free-throws were the difference in the game. The Tigers out-rebounded Southwestern 52-38 and posted 23 offensive rebounds. Southwestern shot just 50% (8-16) from the free throw line while the Tigers were 27-40 (67.5%) from the charity stripe.

Turnovers were much improved for the Pirates tonight as they committed just 18 for the game.

Southwestern was led by senior forward Natasha Azizi who had 15 points on 6-10 shooting. Junior guard Jessica Herbst chipped in 9 with sophomore Staley Mullins following with 8. Mullins was also the leading rebounder with 11, tying her season high.

With the loss, the Pirates fall to 3-10 on the season and 0-5 in the conference. Their next game will be Sunday, January 11th against the University of Dallas at 2:00 p.m. in Irving, TX.
