GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Southwestern women's basketball team has received a bid to the 2010 SCAC Conference Tournament and will enter as the fourth seed in the West with an 10-15 overall record and a 6-10 SCAC record. They face the #1 seed in the West, DePauw (22-3, 15-1), on Friday at 1:00 pm in Jackson, Miss. at Belhaven College.

Southwestern and DePauw met once earlier in the season with the Tigers winning at home 67-38. Southwestern was held to just 11 first half points, shooting only 21.1% from the floor in the opening frame. DePauw had an 18 point lead heading into the break and continue to build on the lead throughout the remainder of the game. The Pirates were out-rebounded by 13 in the game and were -13 on the offensive boards, playing a large part in the lopsided score.

On the year SU is averaging 62.1 points per game, shooting 40% from the floor. DePauw is averaging 21 points more than they allow their opponents, scoring 72.2 per game while allowing just 51.4 per game. They are shooting 42.6% from the field and are tough to defend as no player averages double digits but seven players average 6.8 points per game or more.

Southwestern has its scoring threats as well with junior Shae Seagraves leading the way with 15.6 points per game. Junior Staley Mullins is a strong presence on the inside averaging 11.2 points while Katie Kern provides a boost of the bench averaging 8.7 a game. First-year Katelyn Bartell gives the Pirates a perimeter threat, averaging 8.2 points a game while newcomer Anna Fareed and senior Jessica Herbst are the long distance threats with Fareed shooting 46.4% from three-point range and Herbst at 41.1%.

Rebound differential will once again be influential as DePauw averages 44.8 rebounds per game while SU pulls down 36.5.

Southwestern will hit the road on Thursday and arrive in Jackson Thursday evening and will hit the court for their 1:00 contest on Friday which will be held at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss.
