GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern’s women’s basketball team shut out the Colorado College Tigers in the final 4:20 to take the 59-57 SCAC conference victory.

SU came out blazing after the break, pushing their lead to six, 39-33, with 14 and a half remaining before Colorado College made their push to get back in the game and tied the score at 40 with just under 13 minutes to play.

The Tigers snatched the lead on a three-pointer by Wattman-Turner and then built their lead to eight, 49-57, with 4:20 left. Southwestern’s defense jumped into action and held Colorado scoreless throughout the remainder of the game.

Senior Narisa Trammell hit a three with under three minutes and drained two free throws a minute later to bring Southwestern within three with two minutes to go.

First year Katelyn Bartell’s layup with 1:27 left pulled SU within one, 56-57, and junior Shae Seagraves put the final nail in the Tigers’ coffin with an eight foot jumper just outside the key to put Southwestern ahead for the final time.

SU held a normally sharp shooting Tiger team to just 27.6% from the floor and 18.6 % from the three point line but were out-rebounded 38-60 in the contest.

The Pirates improve to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference while Colorado falls to 7-3 overall and takes their first conference loss to drop to 2-1.
