• 18 Pirates Earn Chi Alpha Sigma Honors

    Southwestern University had 18 student-athletes inducted into the 2011 class of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Athletic Honor Society on Wednesday. This award is presented annually to juniors and seniors who have earned an athletic letter, carry a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or better and are community members in good standing.

    Southwestern University announced the 2011 Dr. Tex Kassen and Dr. Carla Lowry Athlete-of-the-Year awards which denote the top male and female athlete at Southwestern for that given school year. Senior men’s soccer player Alex Keller (pictured, left) and junior swimmer Sarah Ayers (pictured, right) were chosen among numerous candidates as this year’s recipients of the esteemed award.

    GEORGETOWN, Texas- Head Men's Soccer Coach Don Gregory's Paideia group organized a program to provide food to needy residents on Valentine’s Day. Nearly 400 students took part in the program, and after a matching donation by Sudexho, and support from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, over $3000 worth of food and drinks was donated to The Caring Place and the Eagle Locker.
