GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern sophomore forward Skyler Frey scored two goals over the final 10 minutes to lead the Pirates men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the Centenary Gentlemen.

The Pirates generated plenty of opportunities, taking a 19-6 advantage in shots taken and a 12-1 edge in corner kicks. However, Southwestern struggled to capitalize on them for most of the game, whether it was on barely wayward shots or quality goalkeeping from Centenary's Sami Borchalli, who collected seven saves.

Midfielder Andrew Hernandez and Frey generated almost half of the Pirates' opportunities, each taking five shots, including four each on goal.

On the other end, the Pirate defense proved to be impenetrable over the final third of the field, allowing only one shot on goal, which goalkeeper Jack Viles stopped to earn his fourth shutout of the season.

Frey put Southwestern on the board at the 83:21 mark. Nathaniel Blake triggered the play on a throw-in to Ashton Bynum, whose shot was blocked. Frey stepped into the right place at the right time, cleaning up the miss for the game's first goal.

Roughly two-and-a-half minutes later, the same Pirates factored into a score in a slightly different order. Bynum delivered the ball to Blake on a corner kick with Centenary deflecting Blake's shot right to Frey, who found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Southwestern improves to 5-1-2 with the victory. The Pirates will travel next weekend to face Colorado College on Sunday.
