2013-14
Van Houten earned his best time in the 1650 with an 11th place finish at the SCAC Championships with a time of 18:03.19. He also earned top times at the SCAC Championships in the 500 free and 200 fly. He was named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll as well.
2012-13
Van Houten competed in the 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free, 100 fly, 200 fly and the 200 IM in his first season at Southwestern. He saw to the team’s fourth best time in the 1000 free at the SCAC Championships with a time of 11:00.73 and also earned the fourth best time in the 1650 free with a time of 18:01.28.
High School
Van Houten was a four year letter winner on the Skipper swim team and was also on the honor roll all four years.
Personal
Joshua is the son of Beth and Jeff Van Houten and has one sibling, Sarah. He is majoring in chemistry with a minor in math and is a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity and is a SIRA official at Southwestern.
