Men's Swimming & Diving In Third Place After Day 3 Of SCAC Championships

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Men's swimming and diving team continued with Day 3 of the SCAC Championships in Garland, Texas. The championship event is scheduled for February 14-17, with morning and evening prelims and finals. After the three days of competition, the Men's team has secured 3rd place as they head in the fourth and final day of competing. HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Griffin Salinas scored 296.55 and took 7th place in the 3M Dive. 
  • Southwestern men placed 3rd in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.47. 
  • In 51.00, Sebastian Ortiz earned 3rd place in the 100-yard butterfly. 
  • Marc Galindo placed 8th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.21. 
  • Andrew Renniger placed 3rd in the 400-yard IM in 4:07.42 and too far behind him was first year, Nick Freeman, who placed 8th in 4:15.49. 
  • Zach Kangieser earned 5th place in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:43.24.
  • Jorge Mendiola tied the school record for the 100-yard breaststroke, earning him 3rd place overall, with a time of 56.48.
  • Luke Scott took 6th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.15 and Hayden Silkenson earned 8th in 1:00.86. 
  • Owen Rodrigue secured 5th place in the 100-yard backstroke in 52.64.
