Viles and Fortner Earn All-Region Accolades

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Two Southwestern University men's soccer players have earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region X honors. 

For the second year in a row, senior goalkeeper Jack Viles has been named to the First Team All-Region list. The 2021 All-American has been outstanding in his career, allowing an average of just 0.82 goals throughout his time at Southwestern. Viles accumulated 75 saves this season with an 81.5 percent save percentage, only allowing 17 goals in 1,423 minutes played.

Junior defender Reagan Fortner joins Viles as a Second Team All-Region selection for the second time in his career. Fortner has started 39 games in his career so far for the Pirates and received First Team All-SCAC honors in 2022, and was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for week eight. Additionally, Fortner was formerly named to the SCAC All-Freshman team, All-SCAC Second Team in 2020 and 2021, and received a SCAC Defensive Player of the Week award in 2021. 

Viles and Fortner helped lead a Pirate defense to just a 1.06 goals allowed average and six shutout wins over 16 games. Southwestern was third in the SCAC in goals allowed average and second in the conference in total goals allowed with just 17.
