Pirates topped by Tigers at home

Pirates topped by Tigers at home

GEORGETOWN, Texas – One goal in each half was enough to hand SU a 2-0 loss on a cold, windy Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A penalty kick in the 21st minute put Trinity in the lead in the first half.
  • Ryan Benner was a huge reason the Pirates remained in the match late as he kept the Tigers off the scoreboard until TU scored with under three minutes to play.
  • Southwestern had great looks, especially in the second half including a header by Curran Daniel that would have been the equalizer but was saved off the line by a Trinity defender.

STATISTICAL BREAKDOWN

  • Shots (on goal): SU 6 (2), TU 26 (11)
  • Corner kicks: SU 4, TU 5
  • Saves: SU 9, TU 2

UP NEXT

Southwestern falls to 6-11 on the year and 6-7 in the SCAC after the loss. They remain in fourth place with two games to play and host Schreiner on Tuesday night at 8 pm for the makeup contest from Friday night's postponed game.
