SHERMAN, Texas – Southwestern took control of the game early and continued to press to defeat Austin College 3-1 Friday afternoon and stay perfect in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Andres Carreno-Mendez's lofting corner found John Wall at the far post who headed it home to put the Pirates on top 1-0 in the 18th minute.
- AC tied it up in the 32nd minute as Thomas Quick beat a defender 1v1 to score unassisted.
- Brett Berdinsky matched the effort off a free kick just outside the 18 seconds before the halftime buzzer sounded to send Southwestern into the locker room up 2-1.
- Sean Christy, assisted by Carreno-Mendez, gave the Pirates insurance in the 53rd minute and a one goal cushion that proved to be enough as they closed out the game for the win.
