Carreño-Mendez snags SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors

Carreño-Mendez, a sophomore midfielder from Georgetown, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 22nd through Sunday, September 28th. 

Carreno-Mendez had two game wining goals over the weekend to lead the Pirates to a pair of SCAC victories over Schreiner and Texas Lutheran.

His overtime breakaway gave the Pirates a win over Texas Lutheran on Friday, 2-1, and the number 14 also tallied the lone goal in the Sunday contest with Schreiner, leading to a 1-0 win.

For the season, Carreno-Mendez is tied for third in the conference with four goals and leads the Pirates with nine points on the season.

The Pirates are currently 4-5 on the year and 4-1 in the SCAC. They play host to Colorado College on Friday night who sits atop the SCAC leaderboard, tied with Trinity, at 5-0. Game time is set for 7 pm.
