Pirates Held Scoreless in Belton

BELTON, Texas - The mighty offensive of the Southwestern men's soccer team was stifled on Tuesday afternoon as the Pirates fell 2-0 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The loss drops SU to 2-3-1 on the year.

It took just under two minutes for UMHB to get on the board, shocking Southwestern with an unassisted goal by Kevin Johnson. Kyle Dickey added another goal in the 10th minute to put the Crusaders up 2-0 before the Pirates could even get a shot off.

Southwestern sprung to action, taking four consecutive shots and two corner kicks in the next four minutes, but were unable to put any away.

UMHB led in the shot count taking 16 to the Pirates' 5 while each team had their corner kick opportunities (SU 4, UMHB 7). Southwestern keeper Nick Pierce recorded four saves in goal on the afternoon.

The Pirates will regroup as they head to San Antonio on Saturday to play the Redlands in a neutral-site competition. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
