SU Held Scoreless by Host Comets for First Loss of the Season

On Saturday (Sept. 8), the Southwestern University men's soccer team's unbeaten streak ended at four games as the Pirates fell 1-0 to the University of Texas-Dallas in Dallas, TX.

In the first half, the Pirates were able to put three shots on goal but could not get any of them past the UTD goalkeeper. The Comets failed to put a single shot on goal to test first-year goalie Michael Ross (Corinth, TX/Denton HS).

In the second period, UTD managed to score a goal less than three minutes in against goalie Ryan Tasin (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) for a 1-0 lead. Southwestern would then attempt seven shots in the half, with six of them on goal, but the Bucs did not manage to score on Jake Brandon who made nine saves for the shutout. The Pirates held a 13-9 edge in shots for the game.

Southwestern continues to play on the road as the next game for the Pirates will be on Monday (Sept. 10) in Tyler, TX against the University of Texas-Tyler Patriots at 5:00 p.m.
