GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2024 All-Conference Baseball Team today, headlined by Southwestern Baseball's own Maxwell Mims, who was named SCAC Player of the Year.

Mims, a senior outfielder from Friendswood, Texas, is ranked in the top six in almost every offensive category in the conference season, which includes a league-leading 46 runs batted in headed into this weekend's tournament. Mims is also tied for second in home runs (seven), second in total bases (91), second in slugging percentage (.615), second in stolen bases (24), third in hits (57), fourth in triples (four), fourth in batting average (.385) and sixth in runs scored (37). Mims was a two-time SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week during the regular season, including two weeks ago when he batted .600 (9-for-15). The senior, who recently became the 47th member of the SCAC 200-hit club, has had 18 multi-hit games this season. The 2021 SCAC Freshman of the Year, Mims's selection as Offensive Player-of-the-Year marks the sixth time a Southwestern student-athlete has received the accolade and the first since Will Cates was so honored in 2015.

The Pirates also garnered two more First Team All-SCAC recipients. Jacob Tanner, a senior third baseman from Houston, Texas, and Owen Stevenson, a first-year designated hitter from Fairview, Texas, capped off first-team all-conference voting for Southwestern. In his senior campaign, Tanner had a .292 batting average, 35 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, and a .409 on-base percentage. At third base, Tanner fielded at .980 going into the conference tournament. Stevenson hit eight home runs in his first year with the program while driving in 26 runs and slugging .530 in the regular season. Headed into the conference tournament, Stevenson was tied for the lead in the conference in total home runs hit.

James Vaquero was named Second Team All-Conference for the Pirates in a year in which he was third in the SCAC in batting average (.388) and scored 39 runs with 32 total RBIs. Vaquero was also top of the conference in on-base percentage (.491) for the regular season.

Rounding out the all-conference list was outfielder Jake Harris, second baseman Tres Organ, shortstop Ben Feuer, pitcher Greg Ferguson, and pitcher Andrew Hardin, who were named SCAC Honorable Mention for their performances this season.
