Baseball Falls in First Game to Centenary

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Baseball (15-11) took to Shreveport, Louisiana for their forth conference series against the Centenary College Gents (11-10), marking the halfway point of their conference schedule. The Southwestern offense was able to manufacture ten hits against the Gents, however, the Centenary defense limited the Pirates to just one run scored on the night in the top of the fourth, leaving the final tally to 1-5 in favor of Centenary. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ben Feuer led both squads in hits, collecting three in his four at-bats with one of those being a triple base hit.
  • Christian Melillo recorded two hits and the Pirates lone RBI of the matchup.
  • James Vaquero also notched two hits in his five at-bats.

NOTES

  • Southwestern was struck out ten times at the plate, compared to just four strikouts for the Gents.
  • Greg Ferguson went seven innings on the mound for the Pirates, throwing three strikeouts in 108 total pitches.
  • The Pirate defense committed two errors to the Gents one.
