Head Coach Jim Shelton
Coach Shelton is in his 10th season as head coach for Southwestern
University after serving as co-head coach for three years
(2002-04), and assistant coach for seven years.
During his time at Southwestern, Shelton has coached seven NCAA
Tournament teams, five SCAC Champions, and four SCAC runners-up.
Three Pirates have advanced to professional baseball since his
arrival in Georgetown. This is the third university at which
Shelton has coached after a four-year stay at St. Edward's
University, his alma mater, from 1986-90 and three years as a
graduate assistant at The University of New Mexico (1992-95).
Shelton also coached at Southwestern from 1990-92.
A 1981 graduate of LBJ High School in Austin, Shelton played
shortstop, third base, and pitched for St. Edward's. He holds a
master's degree from The University of Texas, and a doctorate from
The University of New Mexico. He lives in Austin with his wife,
Diane, and daughter, Natalie.
