GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Baseball program has released its schedule for the 2024 season. The Pirates head into 2024 following a 2023 season in which the Pirates accumulated a 25-14 record, going 12-7 in the conference with a 17-6 record at Rockwell Family Field. Last year marked the highest win percentage for the program since 2005.

JC Bunch is entering his seventh season as head coach of the Pirates, coming off his fourth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament appearance.

"I'm really excited about this schedule. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will be a great home opening weekend and one where we honor the seniors to start the year. Looking ahead, having to play on the road at Trinity and Centenary will test this team and I think that is something we will need this season. It should be a very exciting year. I'm looking forward to it" says Coach Bunch.

Baseball will open up the season on the road, February 16th against Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas for a three-game series, followed by four games at home against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps from February 23rd to the 25th. Southwestern will close out February with a stand-alone game against the University of Texas - Dallas in Richardson, Texas on the 27th.

Prior to jumping into the meat of their schedule, baseball will host their annual alumni game on March 2nd at 2:00 PM.

The Pirates close out their out-of-conference schedule with a six-game homestand featuring Desales, LeTourneau, Whittier, and Nichols before heading into conference play. The first series against conference opponents will kick off against the Trinity University Tigers in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, March 15th at 6:00 PM. Southwestern will then play a one-off against Mary-Hardin Baylor at home on Tuesday, March 19th, and then resume SCAC competition against opponents University of St. Thomas on the road and University of Dallas at home.

The month of April will be stacked with SCAC play as the Pirates will battle Centenary, Texas Lutheran, Austin College, and Schreiner with intermittent games featuring UMHB, UTD, and Howard Payne.

The culmination of the Pirates season will be when the SCAC hosts the conference baseball tournament, located at the Depot at Cleburne Station in Cleburne, Texas on May 3-5th.
