Travis Harvey Named SCAC Pitcher of the Week

Travis Harvey Named SCAC Pitcher of the Week

TRAVIS HARVEY OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Cedar Park, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 15 through Sunday, March 21.

Harvey shut down what had been the SCAC's most prolific scoring offense heading into the weekend, throwing seven innings with no earned runs, giving up only four hits and one walk while striking out 14 in the Pirates' 16-6 win over St. Thomas. The 14 strikeoiuts are the most by one pitcher in a single game this season.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Freshman right-hander Jon Talley of Dallas appeared in all three wins for the Crusaders this past week, coming away with a win and save during the conference-opening series at Schreiner. He combined to throw 6.1 innings on the week, including 3.1 innings over the conference slate. He picked up the first save of his career by recording the last four outs in a 15-11 win. He entered with the tying run at the plate in the eighth and finished off the win with his lone strikeout. In Sunday's rubber matchup, Talley threw two innings and held on with a 1-2-3 10th after Schreiner had tied the game the previous inning. In a non-conference win over Hardin-Simmons, Talley threw three shutout frames and scattered three hits.
