A second Southwestern baseball player, sophomore pitcher Aaron
Garza, has won a Texas Italian American scholarship. The award is
given annually by the Texas Italian-American Sports Foundation to
up to 20 deserving college student-athletes.
Garza (pictured, on left) is a pitcher and in his first season with
the Pirates made 10 appearances on the mound. He ended the season
with a 13.17 era and had a 0-1 record. In 13.2 innings he allowed
20 hits, 20 runs, all earned, while walking eight and striking out
nine.
Garza, a 2008 graduate of St. Thomas High School, is undecided on a
major at Southwestern.
