SAN MARCOS, Texas — Southwestern men's track and field took a limited contingent of athletes to compete in the Texas State University Charles Austin Classic, sending its throws team to compete. 

Arturo Jimenez paced Southwestern in the shot put with a throw of 13.67 meters, setting a new school record and placing 13th. Sam Dawson finished 16th with a throw of 10.78 meters, and Grey Wagner followed in 17th with a distance of 10.23 meters. Wagner also competed in the hammer throw, finishing 11th with a throw of 25.44 meters. 

Simon Rupe had a strong performance in the javelin throw, finishing second with a throw of 39.54 meters. Dawson placed seventh with a throw of 34.15 meters. 

Southwestern will compete in the SCAC Championships from Saturday, April 24 through Sunday, April 24.
