Men's Track Earns High Marks in First Meet of the Season 
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Southwestern University Pirates men's track and field team placed high in the first meet of the season at the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
 
Devin Rosas was the only Southwestern track athlete to place 1st in an event, where he claimed the title in the men's high jump, reaching 1.93 meters. Rosas also competed in the men's long jump, where he placed 8th, landing at 6.46 meters. Christopher Ojonta also competed in the long jump and placed 16th, landing at 6.20 meters.
 
Noah Dennis placed high for the Pirates in the long-distance running events, coming in 2nd place in a 10000-meter run with a time of 33:10.11. Following Dennis, Doug Ginsberg placed 6th with a time of 37:47.27. In another long-distance event, C.P. Shaulis placed 12th overall in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:01.24.
 
In the men's pole vault, Ashton Frey, who never had the chance to complete his first year as a freshman, finally made his long-anticipated appearance and split a four-way tie for 6th place, landing at 4.10 meters.
 
In the short sprints, Adrian Washington placed 11th with a time of 52.27 in the 400-meter dash. Robert Robuck placed 16th and Jude Ballew placed 20th. In the 100-meter dash, Frey placed 17th with a time of 11.78 and Jarrod Garcia placed 27th with a time of 13.30.
 
Keith Rupe was the only Pirates to compete in the men's 110-meter hurdles, where he placed 16th with a time of 18.13.
 
In the men's relay events, Southwestern placed 10th overall in the 4x400 meter relay, with Robuck, Ballew, Ojonta and Washington coming in with a time of 3:34.97.
 
Up next, the men's track and field team will get ready to compete in the UT-Tyler Icebreaker Classic in on Saturday, March 13, at the University of Texas at Tyler.
