Daniel Tuttle returned to Southwestern in 2021, where he competed as a track and field athlete in 2012 and 2013 as an assistant coach overseeing the pole vault. 

Before returning to Southwestern, Tuttle was the assistant track and field coach at East View High School in Georgetown, Texas, from 2016-2020. At East View, Tuttle primarily assisted with pole vaulters of various skill levels in grades 7-12. He designed and implemented general strength, speed, and endurance workouts, provided technical instruction on vaulting specifics (including utilizing video technology), instructed on event safety and injury prevention.

Tuttle also constructed workout equipment and training aides, oversaw meets, and provided on-site meet coaching. He also supplied equipment and facility maintenance, and aided in equipment acquirement and inventory. Tuttle also assisted coaching with triple jumpers and hurdlers. 

His coaching experience began as an assistant for the Central Texas Elite Track Club, where he coached kids ages 8-18. There, Tuttle primarily worked with hurdlers. 

In his athletic career at Southwestern, Tuttle was a 10-time All-SCAC winner, winning four individual championships. He was the 2012 Southwestern Dr. Tex Kassen Athlete of the Year and 2013 SCAC Athlete of the Meet.
