2012-13 (First-year)

Payne competed in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 50 back, 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM in his first season at Southwestern. He earned a top five time in the 50 back vs. Centenary at 28.03 and again in the 100 back at the SCAC Championships with a time of 57.84. His time of 2:03.81 in the 200 back was the third best for the Pirates.

High School

Payne earned four varsity letters on the Roughrider swim team.

C.J. is the son of David and Kim Payne and has two siblings, Crystal and Amanda. He is majoring in secondary education with a focus on mathematics and pre-engineering.
