Salinas Breaks Record At Season Opener

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS- Men's Swimming and Diving traveled to Houston, TX for a weekend meet versus St. Thomas and Loyola held at Rice University. 

Andrew Renninger kicked things off for the Pirates with a victory in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 57.35. Diver Griffin Salinas beat his own school record in the 1-Meter Dive with a mark of 227 and won the event for both days of competition. Nicholas Freeman won the 400 Yard IM in 4:19.03. Andrew Renninger came back on Day 2 and won the 200 Yard Backstroke decisively in a time of 2:01.92. 

Loyola won the two day event with 222 points while the Pirates took second place with 149. St. Thomas finished with 39. 

"This was a fun first meet for our swimmers and divers.  It was nice to get to swim outside despite being a little chilly at night and in the early morning.  We got the nerves out of our system and will be ready for our next competition in Colorado next week," recapped head coach Jon Duncan

The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams will be traveling to compete against Colorado College October 27th & 28th.
