Men's Swimming & Diving In Third After Day 1 of Tiger Invite

SAN ANTONIO — Southwestern men's swimming and diving is in third place after the first day of the Trinity University Tiger Invitational, scoring a 219 to trail first-place Trinity and University of Texas Permian Basin. 

Southwestern opened with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Sam Anderson, Henry McClure, Drew Anderson, and Sebastian Ortiz finished with a time of 1:27.19. Zachary Kangieser followed with another third-place finish, clocking in at 4:43.58 in the 500-yard freestyle. 

Sam Anderson scored a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.61. McClure finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 21.31. The Pirates dropped to sixth in the 400-yard medley relay, with Tyler Scott, Sean Calvert, Drew Anderson, and McClure finishing at 3:38.62. The Tiger Invitational will resume tomorrow.
