Women's Cross Country Opens Season in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sophomore Laura Carrasco Torres led the Southwestern women's cross country team at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) 14th Annual Rust Buster in the Pirates' season opener. 

Carrasco Torres finished the 5K course with a time of 22:14.9, setting a new personal-best time and finishing 71st. Freshman Grace Massey was the second Pirate to cross the finish line, clocking in at 24:30.2 to finished 77th. Freshman Rachel Chiella (24:30.2) and junior Lauren Calzado (26:07.9) finished 81st and 82nd. 

Southwestern will return to prepare for the Concordia Cross Country Classic hosted by Concordia in Pflugerville, Texas, on Friday, Sept. 24.
