Georgetown, Texas- Southwestern University kicked off the NCAA Fall 2023 Season by hosting the Southwestern-Concordia Opener for both men and women cross country teams.
Head Coach Joe Sponsel, and Southwestern Alum, joined the Pirate's coaching staff in Spring 2023 as assistant coach for Track and Field. This was his first cross country meet as Pirates head coach and while fast times were not necessarily the goal, he had multiple athletes leave this race with an all-time personal best for the 5k.
