TOMBALL, Texas — The Southwestern Pirates women's lacrosse team placed two top-10 finishers in the first meet of the season, finishing fourth in the University of St. Thomas Celt Invitational 5k race. 

Emma Pertuit paced the Pirates with a time of 21:46.5, finishing ninth. Laura Carrasco Torres finished right after, clocking in at 21:59.7 to place 10th. 

Corinne Johnson (23:28.5) finished 19th, Lauren Calzado (26:09.2) placed 23rd, and Giselle Kennison (30:42.3) came in at 25th. St. Thomas placed three runners in the top 10 to win the event. McMurry placed second and Texas Lutheran University placed third. The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the SCAC Championships.
