Balanced Team Attack Pushes Pirates Past Hardin-Simmons

Southwestern University men's basketball was able to put together a solid team effort in a 91-79 win over Hardin-Simmons University on Tuesday night.

Hot shooting from the field and strong team play kept the Cowboys guessing.  The Pirates shot 41.8% from the floor, 50% from 3-point and 64.9% from the free throw line as a team. 4 Pirates recorded double-digit points in the win.

Junior Travis Barber led all scorers with 23 points, and also recorded a team high 9 rebounds and 4 steals.  Junior Zach Bergstrom knocked down 6 of his 11 shots, including shooting a stunning 3-4 from 3-point, to add 17 points and 7 rebounds to the effort. Sophomore Nick Caputo and junior Anthony Cox both scored 14 points in the victory, with Cox dishing out a team leading 9 assists. 

The win moves the Pirates to 3-1 on the year.  They will next set their sights to December 2, where they will take on the University of Dallas at home at 8:00 p.m.
