GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern men's basketball struggled against the towering University of Texas at Dallas Comets frontcourt, scoring a season-low in points for an 84-64 loss on the first day of the Southwestern Paul Peak Classic.

Texas-Dallas started a gigantic front line with 6-foot-10 center Will Isaac, 6-foot-7 forward Kameron Pruitt, and 6-foot-6 forward Kolton Pruitt. The size advantage manifested in almost every facet of the game and most notably on the glass.

The Comets outrebounded the Pirates 46-27, grabbing 14 offensive rebounds for a 21-9 advantage in second-chance points. Kameron Pruitt led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds, buttressing his work on the glass with marksman shooting from outside, hitting 4-for-6 from the 3-point line.

Though Texas-Dallas only recorded one block, its size on the interior made finishing difficult, holding Southwestern to 22-for-57 shooting (38.6 percent). Southwestern compounded its struggles from the field with a 14-for-25 performance from the free-throw line.

Josh Jones led three Pirates in double figures with 13 points on 3-for-5 shooting. Chris Smith, Jr. added 11 points on nine shots with five rebounds and two assists. Preston Hannah led a balanced bench attack that put together quality runs for the Pirates, scoring 10 points with five assists and four steals.

Southwestern drops to 2-4 with the loss, while Texas-Dallas remains undefeated at 3-0. The Pirates will play Concordia tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
