Men's Basketball Swept by Trinity

SAN ANTONIO — The Southwestern men's basketball team allowed five players to score in double figures against Trinity University, losing 85-65 to drop both games in the regular-season series. 

Trinity attacked Southwestern in waves, flexing its depth by outscoring the Pirates 34-11 in bench points. Four of Trinity's five starters reached double figures, led by Enzo Sechi's 12 points and five assists. AJ Clark scored 11 points on seven shots with six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. 

Ten different Tigers logged at least 10 minutes, and Jacob Harvey led the bench scoring with 11 points on eight shots. 

Kyle Poerschke led Southwestern with 24 points on 9-for-21 shooting with five rebounds. Josh Jones scored 14 points with five rebounds and four assists for a Southwestern offense that shot 22-for-62 (36.1 percent) from the field, including 8-for-26 from the 3-point line. 

The Pirate offense struggled with turnovers the entire game, committing 21, including 10 off steals, to give Trinity a 21-10 advantage in points off turnovers, including an 11-0 edge in fastbreak points. Trinity led from start to finish, with its largest lead at 22 with 1:07 remaining. 

Southwestern drops to 7-15 with a 4-9 conference record. The Pirates will close out their regular season next weekend with a pair of home games. Southwestern will host Centenary on Friday at 5:30 p.m., then Austin College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
