Box Score

Despite leading by as many as twelve points in the first half, Southwestern lost on the road on Friday night to Centre College, 73-63.

Southwestern came out gunning on the road and went up by a quick 8 points just 5 minutes into the game. From there, SU mounted a twelve point lead for the second time in the half with just under 5 minutes remaining on a pair of free throws from junior forward Ross Hayes. Centre was able to pull within 5 points going into halftime due to the Pirate's committing five of their nine turnovers during the strech and a pair of Centre three-pointers.

Centre brought the game back even at 37 a piece on a Kris Bentley jumper just four minutes into the second half. Centre then went on a run, draining three unanswered threes over the next 4 minutes and Southwestern was unable to recover.

The Pirates were led by junior guard Travis Barber who went 5-7 from the field, 1-2 from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Junior guard Anthony Cox chipped in 9 points in the loss.

Southwestern drops to 13-6 overall and 4-5 in SCAC conference action. They stay on the road and take on DePauw on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
