Men’s basketball takes first-ever win at Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. – Ryan Ogden hit a 3-pointer with 1:26 remaining to give Southwestern the lead and hit the game-winning free throw with one second on the clock to hand the Pirates their first win at Centenary.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Southwestern never trailed after the opening minutes of the first half and took a nine point lead into the locker room, 42-33, over the Gents.
  • The Pirates pushed their lead to 15, 60-45, with 13 minutes to play, but Centenary clawed back to tie the game at 65 with six minutes remaining.
  • Ogden hit two free throws with nine seconds remaining in regular to tie the game at 80 and send the game into overtime.
  • Karrey Sanders' three opened overtime and put SU back on top. The Gents briefly took the lead back with 2:07 on the clock, but Ogden got back to action to snagged the win for SU.
