GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Pirates led by 14-points in the second half but gave up the lead with 19 seconds remaining before snagging it back to defeat Austin College 86-85 Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southwestern shot out of the gate and quickly took command of the lead.
- By the eight minute mark SU's lead had reached double-digits, 28-18, and they took an eight point lead into the locker room at halftime, 43-35.
- Fast break points and points off turnovers early in the second half allowed Southwestern to increase their lead to 14, 62-48, with 14:15 on the clock.
- Austin College went on a run and pulled within two, 66-64, with 9:32 remaining.
- After two free throws by AC's Brian Baehl to take the lead 85-84 with 19 seconds left, Ryan Ogden matched the effort to give SU the lead again 86-85 with four seconds remaining. Austin College wasn't able to get a shot off in the final seconds as the Pirates took the win.
