Men’s Basketball Out-Rebounded in Loss

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southwestern was -15 in rebounding margin and shot only 35.7% from the free throw line as the Pirates fell 66-49 to Trinity on Saturday night.

Southwestern started well and led through the first six minutes of the game, but Trinity responded aggressively and built their lead to 12, 23-11, with just under eight minutes to go in the half.

The Pirates were held to just 11 points in the final 14 minutes of the first half as Trinity had a comfortable 20 points lead 39-19 at the break.

Facing a large deficit, SU got back to work in the second half and finally brought it to single digits with a jumper by Josh Mann with 7:30 to go on the clock. Trinity wouldn't let the Pirates any closer, however, as they quickly pushed their lead back to double digits and handed Southwestern the 66-49 loss.

Chase Kocher was the only Pirate in double figures with 13 points while Trinity's Zach Lambert led all scorers with 14 points.

Southwestern falls to 6-11 on the year and 2-5 in the SCAC while Trinity moves to 12-5 and 6-1. The Pirates remain in fifth place in the SCAC while Trinity stays tied for first with Colorado College. SU heads to Colorado Springs in search of an upset in their next game, facing Colorado College on Friday the 25th
